Moments from Caribbean Carnival: Caribana

The Scotiabank Toronto Caribbean Carnival commonly referred to as Caribana is an annual festival celebrating the Caribbean culture. The Carnival is the largest street festival in North America and brings in over a million visitors to the City of Toronto.

The highlight of the festival is the Mas (Masquerade) parade where Mas Bands, in which thousands of participants wear colourful costumes, compete for the Band of the Year award. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen in Toronto.┬áThe parade is indeed a treat for the eyes – and ears where Soca and Calypso music complement the Band’s energy. The atmosphere is truly electrifying!
