I Will Never Forget … Moments from 2012

In January itself, I had been hoping to finish writing about my “Moments from 2012”. I know it is March already, but its better late than never!

2012 was quite an eventful year for both, Bhakti and I. The beginning of the year was fairly quiet with my professional project winding down by the end of May. The action started in June when we temporarily moved to India.

License plates from each of the states we visited in India as well as from Bhutan. NL=Nagaland; WB=West Bengal; MZ=Mizoram; AS=Assam; MN=Manipur; SK=Sikkim; ML=Meghalaya; MH=Maharashtra; AR=Arunachal Pradesh; OR=Orissa (Odhisa); TR=Tripura and BP/BT=Bhutan.

Poaching is a big problem in practically all national parks in India (and Africa). The picture below, taken in the famous Kaziranga National Park in the northeastern Indian state of Assam, is very disturbing. Kaziranga is the home of the critically endangered Indian Rhinoceros or the Great One-Horned Rhinoceros.

Seen below is a dying rhino with its horn cut-off.
