The temple above whose name translates into “Old Brahma” was made popular by this big budget Hollywood movie starring Angelina Jolie. Authorities followed a cautious approach to restoration leaving the temple largely in the original condition it was found in. It’s amazing how well nature and man-made things have merged together.

This is what a human skull with a bullet hole on the temple looks like. This is in a country in which a relatively recent genocide killed an estimated 2 million people.

Going by its friendly people, one can never imagine this country to have such a violent and turbulent past. Can you guess which country I’m referring to? I was inspired to go here after watching the movie, The Killing Fields (review).

Happy New Year! April 14th is celebrated as New Year’s day in Cambodia to mark the end of harvesting season. I met these children in the outskirts of Phnom Penh, Cambodia, when I visited a place known as the “Killing Fields”.
