Thursday Challenge – Colour Me Red

SubscribeFiled Under: Thursday Challenge,by Bhakti and Neeraj

We are pleased to take part in the weekly Thursday Challenge series organized by SpunWithTears.com. A picture related to a new theme announced each week will be posted here. Today’s theme is the “Red”.

It was Saturday morning and we were in Thimphu (Bhutan). We stepped out to see the weekend market and on the way was Zangtho Pelri Lhakhang, a Buddhist temple. We wanted to have a closer look so we went inside and saw monks with a wide range of ages. Seen below are some of the younger ones trying to concentrate on their prayers (we suppose our presence was a bit distracting)…

There were several dozen monks praying in the temple and devotees were coming in with interesting offerings such as packaged biscuits, cakes, chocolates, noodles and chips, which an enterprising old lady was selling right outside the temple. The altar was practically overflowing with these mouth-watering goodies!

It was Bhakti’s birthday, so we put our hands together and prayed before leaving.
